Crypts and Their Origin

I'm not talking about "The Crypts".

Crypts are little caves within your throat that you can see plainly in the back with just a mirror. I looked at mine the other day and noticed a strange white bump back there.

Could it be throat herpes? You know, one time I saw a photo of a person with gonorrhea in their throat. How did they get it up there?

And I digress. So I noticed this strange white bump in the back of my throat by my crypts so I proceed to look it up.

I type: "white bump in the back of your throat."

I get: a bunch of websites explaining exactly what it is.

Apparently, these crypts are to capture all the bacteria that runs between your esophagus and your mouth. When the crypt is filled, your body naturally pops the little white ball of bacteria and bad breath out of the hole and you swallow it. However, I always end up coughing them up. They're called: Tonsilith.

For the longest time, I thought I had some human version of a hairball. You know, from licking my skin.

That's not the case. These tonsiliths that I cough up are actually the garbage that collects inside the crypts after the white blood cells fight off all the bacteria. Now, some people's crypts are much deeper than others giving these certain somebodies bad breath. Sometimes the crypts carry so much bacteria and stuff that they can't naturally pop out so you get this laser surgery where a doctor of sorts will zap those bad boys out of your mouth.

This is the only photo I could find without having to throw up. It's the little white dot you see on the tonsils.

Anyway, I looked at my throat this morning and noticed it wasn't there anymore. I must have swallowed it overnight. Let's just say it wasn't cool to think that I had stuff in my crypts. Not cool at all.

EDIT: I'm not an expert on the topic. I was concerned for myself and googled and found all this information. I should have linked you there. I guess I will do it now.

Hey. I'm not an expert on the topic. If you think that might be a problem, you should definitely go and check that out with your doctor. I was just concerned because I saw the little white dots on my throat and I was compelled to talk to everyone about it.

well i went to the docter as well and they told me that everybody gets them but to me it doesnt realy seem like a whole bunch of people i know get them! so the only way i have been trying to get around it is by using q-tips and you go back in the back of your throat and squeez it and then it will mostly all pop out unless there is a lot of it.. which always happens. Then just make sure to use mouthwash for the bacteria.

Hi,
I've had these bumps myself, on and off, throughout the years. I remember in my 20's, going out drinking with some friends (vodka) and the next day, they were gone! So that's what I do now when they come back; have a few drinks, make sure the alcohol hits the area a few times.
worked for me... kills bacteria and completely washed them away!
Good Luck!
