Everyone seems so pre-occupied with their lives. It's kind of baffling how caught up you can be that you forget who you were two weeks ago.
I'm reading Dave Eggers' book "How We Are Hungry" and I adore it.
He has a sense of connecting with the charcters, but still maintaining an objective view. It's a style I've never read before. I love the way he writes his novels as if telling stories to his friends with glasses of red wine and fancy cheese spreads.
It's also quite simplistic. He doesn't drown the reader in description. He doesn't davel too long on the expression of his character's face or the meaning behind a solitary stance. He sort of tells it like it is. "The party was packed with people holding their drinks." Isn't that descriptive enough?
And the lengths of the stories aren't ridiculously long either. If he can express his single thought in 500 words, then that is exactly what he will do. I always find myself being a little hesitant when it comes to lengths. People always demand to read something longer rather than something meaningful.
So I will head back to my book. Just to get a little off-topic; I saw the "two girls one cup" video and made me wonder about the lengths people will go to be famous. Like andy warhol said, all you get is 15 minutes.

Black Friday
Le monsieur et moi decided it was a good day to go to wal-mart at five in the morning. We were in it for the deals and, proudly, we were going to get some.
The line wrapped around the building. It seemed kind of impossible that wal-mart could operate and control the mental minds of hundreds Americans, however, you put a sign saying '20" flat screen hdtv for 200 dollars,' you canpretty much tell whose going to be there.
While rallying all the different savings from the aisles of Elmo dolls and two dollar dvds, fights broke out, larcency was committed and for the first time, the customer was wrong.
Deals and steals are always good ways to start the morning.

the riches of teen life
I was watching Degrassi for the first in a few years. It's funny to see the fake teen drama. I never experienced anything that went on like that. Yeah, there was the occasional teen prgnancy and deug abuse, but it was kept so quiet that it didn't even make a difference if they were.
So, I just realized I'm not making any sense. What I remember of high school was a boring experience. People did what they had to to get out of there. The only moment of suburban freedom was when we received our diploma.
But it didn't end there. High school bleeds into college like pen ink across a wet piece of paper. What did that change? It makes sense that a lot of the teen dramas you see on tv are now idiots who take their personal dramas from high school and turn it into a college spin off.
I'm tired. School is over and life is starting off.
Hopefully it will be on the right foot.
